This class takes an in-depth look at the yi spirit to offer you a fuller understanding of this often-overlooked yet crucial aspect of any human life. In Wu Shen, the Five Spirits, the aspect of your nature that supports you in holding steady with your commitments, practices, and goals over time is this spirit of the Earth Element – the yi.
The yi endows you with intention, the ability to unify your thoughts and actions, and the faithful, steadfast, purposeful application of your creative force toward a single goal. In many alchemical texts, the yi is viewed as the key to the inner work of psychospiritual transformation, the pivot point between spirit and matter, Heaven and Earth.
The class offers specific skills, treatment protocols and strategies, spirit points, flower essences, and essential oils that will support you in working more effectively with clinical issues related to the Earth Element and the yi. These issues include worry, brooding and obsessive thoughts, eating issues, digestive disturbances, co-dependency, and stagnancy on physical, emotional and spiritual levels.
The class is grounded in classical Chinese medical texts as well as the practice of European Five Element Acupuncture, but is also informed by the diagnostic and treatment principles Lorie has developed in her work with the Five Spirits and Alchemical Acupuncture.
This course has been approved for 3 PDA Points with the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
